In Memory of the Greatest Man I Ever Knew,

My Grandpa, Boone Mason Salisbury

His hope was that when his time came to cross Old Jordan,

He would leave a few good footprints in time's sand,

As he himself, to quote him,..

"Stepped over, waved, and grinned",

Then took the Father's Hand.

Well, he left behind more than just a few,

Daily, our love for him grew,

And there's no doubt in our minds,

He was the greatest man we ever knew.

This was no ordinary man,

With whom God chose to bless our lives,

He came to us from the Master's plan,

Surely, he was an angel in disguise!

He could turn around any day,

And with a twinkle in his eye,

"It's a beautiful day in Oregon", he'd say,..

And we'd never wonder why.

He spent his life walking with the Lord,

Day by day  he spread God's love,

And season after season he shared His Word,

Until the very day Jesus beckoned from above.

Year after year, Time swept away,

His body grew tired, and his hair turned grey,

But this blessing from Heaven never did stray,

He continued God's message 'til his final day.

Well, God called him Home today,

And as he looked up with his weary brow,

I can hear him clearly say,

As he steps over, waves and grins,

"It's a beautiful day in Oregon,.. I'm with my Father now."

Oh, how we do rejoice,

As on angel's wings he flew,

But, Dear Father, how we'll miss him,

For truly, truly, Lord,

He was the greatest man we ever knew.
