In October, 1989, I was diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. Then, I was given the diagnosis of Progressive Degenerative Cerebellar Disease in April, 1990. July, 1990 brought the Ataxia diagnosis. However, when the neurologist confirmed the Muscular Dystrophy, on August 2, 1990, my journey with God began that day.I asked the neurologist, "Just what can I do to maintain the muscle mass that I have?" He said, "Karen, there is nothing that you can do". I thought to myself as I was crying, "Whoa, I have to talk to God about this". That afternoon, as I was lying upside down on the bed and crying, wondering, and pondering about the situation, the tears SUDDENLY STOPPED. I looked toward God and said out loud, "Now, just what are we going to do about this?" Immediately, the answer came in a low, audible voice, "Go to the fitness center". I said, "OK".During these years, I have experienced walking on my own; use of one cane; use of two canes; use of a walker; use of a manual wheel chair; and I currently have a power wheel chair. Also, a caregiver takes me to the fitness center; and then the on-duty attendant assists me throughout the aerobic super circuit workout. Galatians 6:9 (KJV) says, "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not".Therefore, let me encourage you to go forward for Jesus!!! Karen Jones81902 3p |
